BECOME A VOLUNTEER
Since our founding, WordPlay has trained more than 800 volunteers to help with programs, at events and behind the scenes. We are always looking for dedicated, passionate people who are willing to donate their time or talents. And you don't need to be a writer, teacher or artist —just someone with a desire to make a difference in the lives of Cincinnati's young people.
During the pandemic, our volunteer opportunities are limited. If you have questions about volunteering with us in the future, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All volunteer opportunities require a background check and a volunteer training.
Program volunteers must be 18 years old, with some exceptions, such as summer programs.
WordPlay offers community writing workshops out of our writing center in Northside for a range of ages, from kindergarten all the way up to young adults. During the pandemic, all programs are virtual with limited volunteer needs.

Due to the pandemic, our events are postponed until further notice.
In non-pandemic times, WordPlay partners with local schools to bring programs directly to students. These programs can range from creative writing workshops to reading labs, and they're held both during the school day and after school.
Want to help, but prefer to work behind the scenes, sharing professional expertise or time toward special projects? Whatever your talents, we encourage volunteers to donate their time in a variety of ways.
