WordPlay Cincy expands, opens new office in Lower Price Hill

March 1, 2019

On February 25, 2019, WordPlay Cincy opened a new set of offices in Lower Price Hill. These offices create a central home base for the organization’s administrative and operational work as WordPlay’s programming expands to include a growing number of locations and partnerships.

The WordPlay offices are located within the East Annex Building on the bustling campus of Community Matters and Education Matters. Other renters in the building include Cincy Stories, RISE News, and Muse Women’s Choir. The campus is in close proximity to Oyler School and Santa Maria’s Joe Williams Family Center, and is only a short distance from Price Hill Will.

The new space boasts bright windows with a view of the Oyler School’s playground and Community Matters’ beautifully renovated Sanctuary courtyard, as well as an open floor plan to facilitate the WordPlay team’s ideation work.

Executive Director Libby Hunter explains, “I hate the process of moving furniture and installing office technology, to be totally honest, but WordPlay is excited about this new location in particular. Being in Lower Price Hill will allow us to partner more closely with fellow Price Hill organizations and to develop long-lasting relationships with our new residential neighbors.”

WordPlay’s expansion is informed through its recent strategic planning, facilitated by Kathy DeLaura of Partners in Change and led by Chair of the WordPlay Board of Trustees, Joe Moorman of Mayerson Academy.

Hunter explains, “This is the next critical step in WordPlay Cincy’s growth: moving towards more partnerships and campus-based models in close proximity to like-minded youth and family-oriented services, so that WordPlay can better reach young people where they are.”

This growth would not be possible without WordPlay supporters who have invested in its mission and who believe in the power of helping young people fulfill their potential by discovering, honoring and sharing their voices through reading, writing and storytelling.

All of WordPlay’s signature Northside workshops will continue without interruption. U.S. mail can be directed to WordPlay Cincy 2110 Saint Michael Street #201, Cincinnati, OH 45204.
