WordPlay Cincy is proud to welcome community leader and communications expert Regina Carswell Russo to its Board of Trustees. Russo joins the organization at a critical time in the Northside-based nonprofit’s growth, as WordPlay works to expand the reach of its creative programs through its recently completed strategic planning.
“WordPlay is gaining an extraordinary new Trustee in Regina,” Executive Director Libby Hunter said. “She brings a wealth of skill, creativity and innovation to the organization. Regina has been involved with WordPlay as a trusted advisor and wise sounding board over the past few years. We are incredibly fortunate to have her dedication to our mission continue to grow as she joins our leadership team.”
An award-winning broadcast journalist, public and community relations expert and arts administration leader, Russo, who also founded RRight Now Communications, brings more than 29 years of communications expertise to WordPlay’s Board. She will also serve on WordPlay’s Governance Committee with a focus on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, as she provides oversight for Board recruitment and the organization as a whole.
“As a mother, a professional communicator and a strong advocate for the arts in education, I am thrilled to join WordPlay Cincy’s Board as it enters its next stage of development,” Russo said. “I admire WordPlay’s dedication to giving young people opportunities to connect, learn and grow alongside their peers through reading, writing and storytelling in all their myriad forms. This impressive gem of a nonprofit is really ‘what’s hot’ in Cincinnati right now.”
Hunter and the rest of the WordPlay Board praise Russo’s focus on youth and leadership development, community building and communications. “It's essential that our board expand in size and depth of expertise to continue to rise to meet the needs of Cincinnati's young people and their families in ways that are community-informed, strategic and sustainable,” Hunter said.
